Beech Grove, IN

Population 14,740

In 1969, Indianapolis and Marion County adopted a uni-gov making Marion County one government body. Beech Grove was one of four “excluded cities,” so it retained its city government. Beech Grove residents have the right to vote for the mayor of Indianapolis and their representatives on the Indianapolis/Marion County City-County Council as well as the Beech Grove  mayor and other elected officials.

The city has its own school district, the Beech Grove City Schools, but Franklin Township Community School Corporation also serves some of the area.

Beech Grove is known as a small, tight-knit community where many residents families go back generations in the town.  Main Street is undergoing some revitalization with the addition of new businesses like the recently opened Victory Rolls, a 1940's style bakery.

Step inside and it's like going back in time, from the music, the dress of employees and the decor.

Beech Grove has several parks but the largest and most used is Sara T. Bolton Park. The park  includes picnic areas, a creek that winds through the park, athletic courts and fields, a one-acre Dog Park, Nature Area, and play grounds.
