In today's market, buyers have the most negotiating power. Why is that? In the fall,most sellers realize their home may not sell until spring and they are the most motivated to sell now. Once spring hits,the market is still supposed to be "seller's market" ... meaning there is an imbalance in inventory.Too many buyers and not enough sellers. Homes go incredibly fast and the "pickins are slim"! Sellers really don't need to negotiate much off of list price.Another reason to buy in the fall/winter.... after many years,the Fed will surely raise rates before the end of this year.Lenders are doing a lot of refi's right now because savvy homeowners know that rates are going up soon and are rushing to lock in this low rate.
Home buyers should take note and follow their lead if they want to save thousands of dollars over the life of their loan.
